Special Olympics Iowa has been selected as one of the top 200 causes (out of about 4,000 entries) to move forward to the voting phase for the State Farm Neighborhood Assist grant program!  If we are among to top 40 at the end of the voting, we will win a $25,000 grant to support Unified Sports throughout Iowa!

Sign up today to volunteer at Summer Games May 21-23 at Iowa State University! Volunteers are needed for assistance with escorts, parking, handing out awards and more. Volunteers are needed for shifts during competition Thurs., May 21 from 7 a.m-5 p.m. (half days available); Fri., May 22 from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. ( half days available); and Sat., May 23 from 7:30 a.m.-noon.

Find out how YOU can carry the Flame of Hope in the first-ever Unified Relay Across America!

Over the course of 46 days, in a hand-to-hand exchange, over 20,000 participants will run, walk or bike a segment of the relay in this team and individual fundraising event as it passes through all 50 states. The relay will be in Iowa from June12-14, covering 213 miles with overnight stays in Des Moines and Ames.

Des Moines Polar Plunge Moves to Jordan Creek Town Center in 2015
Special Olympics Iowa and Jordan Creek Town Center announced today a new partnership that will bring the Des Moines area Polar Plunge to Jordan Creek Town Center on Saturday, November 7, 2015. The Polar Plunge is a signature fundraiser for Special Olympics and offers a unique opportunity for individuals and organizations to raise money and support Special Olympics Iowa athletes by plunging into frigid waters. Karen Cooper, 13, is from Sioux City and is the designer of this year's holiday card. She has been a Special Olympics Iowa athlete for two years, competing in bowling, bocce, track and field, and NAIA volleyball and basketball. In her free time, Karen likes to build puzzles, draw, and play computer games.
