ACTIVITIES SUSPENDED THROUGH JUNE 30
All Special Olympics Iowa training and in-person activities are currently suspended. The suspension will affect all sport training, practices and competitions, including all upcoming Spring Games and the Summer Games. Also included in this suspension are all Polar Plunges and fundraising events.
We encourage athletes, families and fans to be vigilant as Iowa works to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
What is coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)?
Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a lung illness that can spread from person to person. The virus that causes COVID-19 is a new coronavirus that was first discovered in Wuhan, China.
What are the symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19)?
Patients with coronavirus (COVID-19) have a mild to severe respiratory illness with symptoms of:
- Shortness of breath
Most people with coronavirus (COVID-19) will have a mild illness, but some will get more sick and may need to be hospitalized. Seek medical advice if you develop symptoms, and have been in close contact with a person known to have coronavirus (COVID-19).
- Wash your hands often
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
- Avoid contact with people who are sick
- Stay home if you don’t feel well
- Get plenty of sleep
