Support Special Olympics During the Variety - the Children's Charity Telethon! 
Variety - the Children's Charity will be hosting its annual telethon March 7-8 and Special Olympics President and CEO Gary Harms will be filling the VIP (Very Interested Person) time slot on Sat., March 7 from 7-8:30 p.m. Please tune in to ABC 5 during his appearance and call to make a donation!

Find out how YOU can carry the Flame of Hope in the first-ever Unified Relay Across America!

Over the course of 46 days, in a hand-to-hand exchange, over 20,000 participants will run, walk or bike a segment of the relay in this team and individual fundraising event as it passes through all 50 states. The relay will be in Iowa from June12-14, covering 213 miles with overnight stays in Des Moines and Ames.

Des Moines Polar Plunge Moves to Jordan Creek Town Center in 2015
Special Olympics Iowa and Jordan Creek Town Center announced today a new partnership that will bring the Des Moines area Polar Plunge to Jordan Creek Town Center on Saturday, November 7, 2015. The Polar Plunge is a signature fundraiser for Special Olympics and offers a unique opportunity for individuals and organizations to raise money and support Special Olympics Iowa athletes by plunging into frigid waters. Golden Rule Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling is teaming up with Special Olympics Iowa for a special Valentine’s Day treat. From February 1-14, Golden Rule will donate ALL of the proceeds from new Gold Club Memberships to Special Olympics Iowa! Gold Memberships are $99 plus tax and include an AC check-up in the spring, a furnace check-up in the fall, a plumbing check-up, 10% off any repairs, and no trip charges.

Sign Up for the Miss Amazing Pageant
The Miss Amazing organization provides opportunities to girls and women with disabilities to gain confidence in a supportive and fun environment! The third annual Iowa Miss Amazing Pageant is March 27-28 at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs. Girls ages five and older can participate! Each girl will be paired with a volunteer buddy who will be a mentor and a friend to them throughout the day and help prepare them for the pageant. The participants will participate in evening gown, personal introduction, private interview and optional talent segments. At the end of the pageant, every girl will receive a trophy and a crown. The cost to enter is five cans of food, and tickets to the final show are $10, which will serve as a donation to upcoming Iowa Miss Amazing Pageants. FIT wants to help you be the best you can be at the Mid-Winter Tournament. There are sport specific exercises and stretches available for each sport offered at the Mid-Winter Tournament on the FIT Homepage. These exercises and stretches are designed to help you get started with your training and make you that much better when competition time finally arrives! Karen Cooper, 13, is from Sioux City and is the designer of this year's holiday card. She has been a Special Olympics Iowa athlete for two years, competing in bowling, bocce, track and field, and NAIA volleyball and basketball. In her free time, Karen likes to build puzzles, draw, and play computer games.
