Couch to 5K Training
6/7 – 8/1
Train over the span of 8 weeks, building up mileage and strength while preparing to test your fitness with a 3.1 mile run/speed walk/roll. This is a great opportunity to train hard towards new goals, try something new, and get in shape for upcoming sports seasons. Join forces with teammates, friends, or family members to get your exercise in and hold each other accountable! Each participant will receive a t-shirt and a training booklet.

Unified Golf Tour: Spencer

This golf tournament pairs individuals with intellectual disabilities with Unified partners (golfers without intellectual disabilities) for either a 3-hole, 6-hole, or 9-hole game of golf. All participants will receive lunch and a Unified Golf Tour t-shirt. There is no charge to participate.

Mason City Police Officer Golf Tournament

In partnership with the Mason City Police Officers Association Unit 18, the Mason City Golf Tournament is a fun opportunity for individuals and organizations to raise money and support SOIA athletes. Funds raised for SOIA will be used to support more than 14,500 Special Olympics athletes and Unified partners around the state, giving them opportunities to participate in year-round sports, health and educational programming and, most importantly, experience joy, pride and respect.

The LETR Golf Tournament is a fun opportunity for individuals and organizations to raise money and support SOIA athletes. In 2020, sponsors and participants of the tournament raised over $5,000 for Iowa athletes, giving them opportunities to participate in year-round sports, health and educational programming - and most importantly - experience joy, pride and respect.

Fall Unified 5K Training

Special Olympics Iowa will be running, walking, and rolling again this fall with our Unified 5K program! All athletes, family members, coaches, neighbors, and friends that register will receive a training guide and tips for conquering the 5K distance. Special Olympics Iowa is partnering with the IMT Des Moines Marathon to provide a race day opportunity for athletes that are able to come to Des Moines for the Principal 5K to compete with an assigned Unified partner. There will be organized opportunities to communicate and potentially train with your partner throughout the program. We challenge you to train hard and set new personal bests!
