President & CEO Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The President and CEO of Special Olympics Iowa (SOIA) is a full-time exempt position that is responsible for providing strategic leadership, fundraising, setting long-term direction, overseeing day-to-day execution and achieving goals set by the Board of Directors.  This position also assists the Vice President of Development with all fundraising activities.

Special Olympics Iowa Board of Directors
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five years’ experience in senior management of an organization
  • Demonstrated competence in the area of diversity and inclusion
  • Successful demonstration of fundraising and development
  • Exceptional communication skills and strong skills in public speaking and public relations
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Must be able to pass required SOIA background check and Class A Volunteer certification

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and foster a culture that facilitates the vision, mission and goals of Special Olympics Iowa through operational support, program administration and project management
  • Responsible for the execution and administration of strategic direction
  • Maintain alignment with Special Olympics’ International movement platform, strategic plan and priorities
  • Direct budget development, oversee budget operations, and identify methods to increase revenue and reduce costs
  • Hold staff and volunteers accountable for a high performance and high engagement culture by articulating expectations, monitoring performance and providing feedback
  • Recruit, train, retain and manage top talent among staff
  • Represent the interests of SOIA at local, state and national levels
  • Manage relationships with key constituents– including athletes, coaches, families, volunteers, donor and community partners, statewide and national legislative bodies and Board Members to educate and promote, Special Olympics Iowa goals
