Special Olympics Iowa and Special Olympics Illinois have teamed up to bring you Over the Edge, a unique event providing you the opportunity to rappel down the Hotel Blackhawk at 131 feet!
It's as easy as...
1. Register
Register Online and set up your Firstgiving fundraising page
2. Raise Funds
Use your online fundraising page or collect cash and checks from your network of friends, family and co-workers.
3. Secure Your Rappel Spot
Once you reach the $750 minimum fundraising goal, you will be guaranteed a rappel spot and we will contact you to secure a rappel time.
4. Earn incentives!
Rappellers who raise above and beyond the $750 minimum are eligible for some great incentive prizes! Coming soon!
5. Go Over the Edge
Hotel Blackhawk is a historic building, one of the tallest in the Quad Cities. A rappel of 131 feet is a thrilling experience!

Gather your co-workers and decide who's getting tossed.
Your fearless leader may not seem so fearless when it comes to dangling over the side of a 131 foot building. Start a petition and generate some excitement in the office so that your boss can't say no!
*Your boss has the option to respectfully decline participation ONLY IF they or the company match the donations raised by employees (minimum $750). Then, the participation spot is drawn from all the willing individuals who contributed funds!

Want to get your company involved? Earn the Participant Award!
The Participant Award is for businesses that recruit rappellers to go Over the Edge for Special Olympics Iowa & Special Olympics Illinois. Each rappeller must register online at Firstgiving and each rappeller must have a minimum of $750 raised by October 11 to guarantee your company logo/listing on the back of the participant shirts.

Rappellers must raise a minimum of $750. Rope times will not be assigned until the requirement is met. Participants will receive an exclusive Over the Edge long sleeve t-shirt. To participate you must weigh a minimum of 110 lbs and a maximum of 300 lbs. You must be 14 years of age* on the day of the event. Click here to view the Participant packet.
*Participants under 18 years of age will need a parent or legal gaurdian present the day of the event to sign the waiver.
Over the Edge Quad Cities is a joint event being held by Special Olympics Iowa & Special Olympics Illinois. All proceeds from this event will be split equally among the two organizations.
