Special Olympics Iowa (SOIA) serves over 11,000 athlets, holds over 90 events, and trains 1,800 coaches a year.  None of this would be possible without our 15,000 volunteers.  It is no exaggerationt to say that SOIA programs could not exist without the generous volunteers spirit of so many Iowans.  Volunteers are the backbone of Special Olympics Iowa.  If you are seeking a volunteer opporutnity that can make a difference in your life and lives of others, we need you!

Why volunteer with Special Olympics Iowa?

“Because as a volunteer you get far more out of it than you come close to giving.  The athletes have so much to offer and so much to teach, Lessons in team work, encouragement, positive attitude, perseverance only to name a few.  They change me for the better far more than I could ever hope to change them.”
            -Mary Buscher, Sammons Financial Group

“ There are no bad days when you interact with our athletes, as their joy and excitement is infectious!”                                              -Ken Clary, LETR officer
