Cop on Top

Cop on Top events are typically held at Walmarts, but can be held at any popular retail store in your community.  Depending on store management, law enforcement may either be allowed to “live” on the roof of the store, or on scaffolding near the store entrance.

While the law enforcement officer “lives” on the roof/scaffolding, volunteers are stationed at store entrances to collect donations from store patrons.  Volunteers may be from local law enforcement departments, civic organizations, schools, family and friends.  Volunteers typically work three hour shifts during busy store hours.

Cop on Tops are held at many locations throughout the state, including Altoona, Ames, Ankeny, Cedar Rapids, Coralville, Des Moines, Fort Dodge, Indianola, Iowa City, Newton, Windsor Heights and West Des Moines.  If you are interested in adding your location to this list, contact us.

 Tip a Cop

Tip a Cop is a Law Enforcement Torch Run Event involving law enforcement officers serving as “celebrity” servers for a lunch and/or dinner meal at a busy restaurant.  Law enforcement officers bus tables, refill beverages, and solicit donations from restaurant patrons.

Tip a Cop events are held throughout the state at Red Lobster, Texas Roadhouse, Red Robin, Pizza Ranch, as well as several local restaurants.
