In addition to offering Olympic-style competition in 22 sports, Special Olympics Iowa offers a wide array of other services to develop literacy and leadership skills, promote inclusion, encourage health screening, and provide specialized equipment for individuals with severe and profound intellectual disabilities. The Board of Directors and staff of Special Olympics Iowa are committed to superior stewardship.  80% of all audited resources are devoted directly to the athletes and program services.  Administrative costs are limited to only 4% of audited expenses.  There are no charges for the athletes to participate in the competitions and events offered by Special Olympics Iowa. 

There are several ways in which you can assist the valuable services provided to individuals with intellectual disabilities:

• Volunteer in our programs – each year 15,000 volunteers make our programs a reality.  If you would like more information on volunteerism, please click here.

• Speaking Engagements – we welcome the opportunity to tell people about our organization.  We are available to speak to corporate groups, civic groups, or private groups at your convenience.  We would welcome the opportunity to address your group and discuss the programs and services offered by Special Olympics Iowa.  Please contact Mark Reed at (515-986-5520) to set up a speaking engagement.
