TURBO-JAVELIN EVENT INFORMATION:

Special Olympics Iowa will offer a new track and field event as part of the Spring Games and Summer Games in 2012.  Athletes can participate in a mini-javelin throwing event.  The mini-javelin is a developmental event.  Therefore athletes can choose the mini-javelin or softball throw (not both).  Like the softball throw, the mini-javelin is a lead-up event to the shotput.

Turbo javs will be used during the mini-javelin event.  All female athletes and male athletes age 8 – 15 will throw a 300 gram turbo jav.  Male athletes over 16 will throw a 400 gram turbo jav.

You may order Turbo Javs for your program from the company Turbo Jav.  Please call or email Carolynn Petranoff at  turbojavs@aol.com or 401-588-2299.

Please contact Rhonda Schwarzkopf at rschwarzkopf@soiowa.org or 515-986-5520 if you have any questions.
