Coaching Information & Applications

The goal of the SOIA Coach Education Program is to give all athletes the benefit of quality coaching.  Results of the program include an improvement in the competitions, better awareness of rules and better training of the athletes.

The following items are requirements for SOIA Head Coaches:

1.) Completion of the Class A volunteer application
2.) Completion of the on-line Protective Behaviors Training and Quiz
3.) Issuance of a photo credential by the state office
4.) Completion of the on-line General Orientation & Quiz
5.) Completion of the Coach / Chaperone Code of Conduct
6.) Attendance in a sport specific training clinic for each sport the coach will train athletes
7.) Completion of an Application for Sports Training Certification, including 10 hours of practicum
8.) Completion of a 10 question sport specific quiz for each sport the coach will train athletes

The following items are requirements for SOIA Assistant Coaches and Chaperones:

1.) Completion of the Class A volunteer application
2.) Completion of the on-line Protective Behaviors Training and Quiz
3.) Issuance of a SOIA photo credential
4.) Completion of the on-line General Orientation & Quiz
5.) Completion of the Coach / Chaperone Code of Conduct

The following items are requirements for SOIA Coach Recertification:

1.) Maintaining a current SOIA photo credential (Submit a Class A Volunteer Application and Protective Behavior Training every 3 years)
2.) Attendance in a sport specific training clinic, completion of an ASEP course provided by SOI or completion of a continuing education course that would be beneficial as a SOIA coach
3.) Completion of an Application for Sports Re-Certification / Continuing Education
4.) Completion of a 10 question sports specific quiz for each sport the coach is recertifying
