2008 Recap Minimize
 

The 2008 Gold Medal Gala was held on October 11.  Over 400 people attended the evening, which included food, beverages, a live and silent auction, and appearances by WHO-TV 13's Keith Murphy and several Special Olympics Iowa Athletes.  The event raised over $85,000 for Special Olympics Iowa!

Next year's event is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, 2009.  Save the date, we hope you'll join us!

    THE GOLD MEDAL GALA is an annual event benefiting Special Olympics Iowa, which serves more than 13,000 athletes across the state.  The event will be emceed by WHO-TV's Keith Murphy and will feature a guest appearance by World Champion gymnast Shawn Johnson!  Save the date, we hope you'll join us! 

    Due to a conflict with the World Tour of Gymnastics Superstars, Shawn Johnson will be unable to attend the event in person.  We apologize for the change of plans.

    2007 Recap

    The Gold Medal Gala in Memory of Tom Dunphy was held on Saturday, October 6, 2007.  The event raised over $125,000, making it the largest fundraising event held by Special Olympics Iowa.  Over 500 people attended the Gala, which included dinner, a program, and a live and silent auction.  The event was held in memory of Tom Dunphy, who served on the board from 2002 to 2006.  His spirit and passion were, and remain, an inspiration to “celebrate it all.”
