The first Special Olympics Iowa flag football competition was held on October 1 in Cedar Rapids. Ten teams competed in the fun, fast-moving sport.
After Opening Ceremonies, each team participated in a preliminary round of play. The teams were then bracketed into one of three sport levels for fair and equal competition. Each team played in two games.
Jason Miller, the head coach for the Muscatine Community Y delegation was very pleased with the new competition. “This was one of the best Special Olympics experiences for us as a team and as coaches. We all had a blast.”
