 2012 Truck Convoy

The World's Largest Truck Convoy

Each September, truckers from all over the United States kick off the World's Largest Truck Convoy for Special Olympics. The Convoy to support Special Olympics Iowa begins at Highway 5 Exit 101 (SW Connector) in West Des Moines. Trucks are escorted by law enforcement in a convoy ending at the Iowa State Fairgrounds for the celebration party, recognizing participating truckers and the support they give to Special Olympics Iowa. Special Olympics Iowa athletes and families, community organizations, companies and law enforcement agencies welcome the trucks as they enter the Fairgrounds for great music and fun!

For more information, please contact Jeanette Steinfeldt at (515-986-5520, ext. 107) or visit www.worldslargesttruckconvoy.com.

Saturday's Schedule:

Background of Truck Convoy:

Inspired by the powerful impact Special Olympics had on his life through his participation in the Law Enforcement Torch Run®, combined with his family's involvement in the trucking industry, Norm Schneiderhan, a Corporal with the Orange County (Florida) Sheriff's Department, created the convoy in 2001 and it has now become a national one-day celebration of the trucking industry to help raise money for Special Olympics.
