Summer Games Minimize
 
During May, the State Summer Games are held at Iowa State University in Ames. More than 3,000 athletes participate in Special Olympics Iowa's largest annual event. Competition includes aquatics, athletics (track & field), bocce, cycling, developmental events, roller skating, soccer and tennis. Athletes also enjoy Opening Ceremonies at Hilton Coliseum, the Olympic Village, and a celebration dance.
