Two Special Olympics Iowa Athletes Named to Team USA
Special Olympics Iowa bowlers Patrick Gulbranson (Stuart, Iowa) and Lisa Spencer (Ankeny, Iowa) have been named to Special Olympics Team USA and will represent the United States at the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles, Calif., July 25-Aug. 2. Visit our World Games page for more information.

Special Olympics Iowa Night with Iowa Women's Basketball
The University of Iowa Women's Basketball team is partnering with Special Olympics Iowa to showcase OUR ATHLETES during halftime of the Iowa vs. Michigan game on Jan. 22. Athletes, coaches, family and volunteers are invited to attend at a discounted rate. Tickets are $5 for adults 18 and over. Youth under 18 are FREE! Finish Line will again conduct their holiday campaign from November 7 – December 31 at over 600 Finish Line stores across the United States. Customers will be asked to make donations at check-out to the Finish Line Youth Foundation.  This year the campaign will solely benefit Special Olympics, with funds raised going towards Finish Line's annual commitment. Your donation could help another Special Olympics Iowa athlete become a champion, so get in the holiday spirit and make your year-end contributions while you shop!


FIT wants to help you be the best you can be this winter at the State Winter Games and the Mid-Winter Tournament. There are sport specific exercises and stretches available for each sport offered at the State Winter Games and the Mid-Winter Tournament on the FIT Homepage. Karen Cooper, 13, is from Sioux City and is the designer of this year's holiday card. She has been a Special Olympics Iowa athlete for two years, competing in bowling, bocce, track and field, and NAIA volleyball and basketball. In her free time, Karen likes to build puzzles, draw, and play computer games.
