(L-R) Sammons Financial Group AVP, Neil Berns, Special Olympics Iowa (SOIA) President and CEO Hal Pittman and Sammons Annuity Group President Cindy Reed reflect on the $212,000 gift presented to SOIA at the 2013 Summer Games.

In honor of the 75th anniversary of Sammons Enterprises, Inc., Sammons® Financial Group (SFG) located in West Des Moines, has committed to make considerable donations to charitable organizations in each of their four U.S. locations, including Des Moines, Iowa. The anniversary funds from Sammons Enterprises (the ultimate parent company of SFG) will be used to make a one-time large contribution to create transformational change within communities and one that can impact an organization for years to come. As a result, SFG will contribute in excess of $1 million overall in 2013 to local Des Moines organizations.

Sammons Financial Group has maintained long-standing relationships with several local organizations including Special Olympics Iowa. The gift to SOIA will assist with technology upgrades, new vehicles to transport athletic equipment throughout the state, and sponsorship of a new Play Day program in central Iowa for the next 10 years, providing activities for children with intellectual disabilities between the ages of 2 and 7.
